Storage Unit Size Guide for Charlevoix

Storage Unit Size Guide for Charlevoix

Compare common storage sizes and what typically fits

Choosing the right storage unit is easier when you start with the belongings you need to store—not simply the dimensions on the door. Use this guide to compare common unit sizes, then check live availability across our four Charlevoix storage locations.

Start With These Three Questions

1 How much are you storing?

Make a quick list of large furniture, appliances, boxes, vehicles and unusually shaped items.

2 How often will you need access?

Allow extra room for a center aisle if you expect to retrieve items while the unit remains full.

3 What storage environment do you need?

Consider drive-up convenience, interior hallway access or a temperature-moderated climate-controlled space.

These examples are general planning estimates. Furniture dimensions, packing methods and the need for an access aisle can change how much will fit.

Specialty Sizes

Climate-controlled and extra-large spaces

Dimensions vary
by facility

Often suitable for: furniture, records, temperature-sensitive belongings, commercial storage or customers needing an unusually large premium space.

Available configurations may include

  • Interior climate-controlled rooms
  • Large-format premium storage
  • Tall doors and increased ceiling height
  • Specialty commercial or office space

Climate control moderates temperature. It should not automatically be interpreted as humidity control.

Compare Locations

Choose the Right Access Type

Dimensions are only part of the decision. Consider how you will load, unload and use the space.

Drive-Up Storage

Park directly outside the unit for convenient loading of furniture, appliances, boxes, equipment and other heavy belongings.

Interior Hallway Storage

A practical choice for boxes, seasonal belongings and smaller items when direct vehicle-side access is not essential.

Climate-Controlled Storage

Temperature-moderated interior storage for belongings that may benefit from a more stable environment than an ordinary drive-up space.

Before You Reserve

  1. Measure your largest and longest items.
  2. Estimate the number of boxes and storage totes.
  3. Decide whether items can be safely stacked.
  4. Allow room for doors, drawers and an access aisle.
  5. Confirm that unusually large items fit through the unit doorway.

Use the Space Efficiently

  • Use consistently sized boxes where practical.
  • Disassemble tables and bed frames when possible.
  • Store heavier boxes on the bottom.
  • Use shelving for items you need to access regularly.
  • Label boxes on more than one side.
  • Keep frequently needed items near the entrance.
